These terms cover your use of CalculatorCentrum. They are written to be read rather than skimmed past, because the important part — what you should and should not rely on these calculators for — actually matters.

What this site is

CalculatorCentrum provides free calculators and reference tables across engineering, physics, mathematics, finance, health, and home improvement. Using the site costs nothing and requires no account.

The calculations are checked when the site is built — each one's maths carries assertions that must pass before anything is published, as described on how we verify. That process catches implementation errors. It does not, and cannot, guarantee that a given formula is the right one for your particular situation.

No warranty

The site and its calculators are provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. While considerable effort goes into accuracy, no guarantee is made that any result is correct, complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose.

Many calculators implement approximations, published standards, or population-average formulas rather than exact physics. Where that is the case the page says so and names what it follows — IPC-2221 for PCB trace currents, IEC 60751 for platinum RTDs, Mifflin–St Jeor for metabolic rate, and so on. Read those notes; they tell you where the model stops being reliable.

Decisions that matter need a professional

This is the part worth reading twice. Nothing on this site is professional advice, and it must not be used as a substitute for it:

  • Health. The health calculators are general-information tools. They are not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a prescription. The IV drip rate calculator converts between volume, time and drops; it makes no clinical judgement and does not replace a prescription or local protocol. Decisions about health, medication or treatment belong with a qualified clinician.
  • Financial. The finance calculators are planning tools. They are not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. They generally exclude tax, fees, and inflation unless a page says otherwise, so they will not match the actual terms of an actual product. Read the agreement and take qualified advice for anything with real money behind it.
  • Engineering, structural and electrical. The electronics, physics and home improvement calculators are estimating and sanity-checking aids. Anything that will be built, energised, or carry a load must be designed and signed off by someone qualified and responsible for it, and must comply with the codes and regulations that apply where you are.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, this site — including decisions made on the basis of a calculated result.

Using the site

You may use these calculators freely, for personal or commercial work, and you do not need permission to use a result in your own project. Please don't attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a volume that degrades it for other people, or present it as your own.

The text, explanations and reference tables are the site's own work and remain its property. Formulas, physical constants and published standards are of course not owned by anyone here.

Advertising and third parties

The site may display advertising served by third parties, including Google AdSense. Those providers may set cookies and collect data about your visit. The privacy policy sets out what is collected, by whom, and how to opt out of personalised ads.

Some pages link to external sites for reference. Those are not under our control and no responsibility is taken for their content or their practices.

Availability and changes

This is a personal project, not a service with a guaranteed uptime. The site may be unavailable, and calculators may be changed, corrected or removed at any time — corrections in particular are made as soon as an error is confirmed. These terms may also be updated; material changes will be reflected in the date above.
